Vintage Mdina Malta Heavily Strapped Art Glass Bowl / Ashtray Sea Colours Signed

Presenting a magnificent vintage art glass bowl / ashtray masterfully handcrafted and signed by Mdina Malta. This stunning early example of Mdina art glass draws inspiration from the idyllic Mediterranean waters. Fabulously thick and chunky aqua strapping surrounds the top section of the bowl, adding an appealing sense of movement which perfectly captures the ebb and flow of water. Exquisite shades of turquoise, green and sand appear throughout glistening with a beautiful milky opalescence which perfectly captures the vibrant colours of the Mediterranean waters.

A network of golden yellow veins are encased within the body of the bowl while random encapsulated air bubbles add a gorgeous jewel-like sparkle to the glass. The Mdina glassworks was founded by the renowned glass maker Michael Harris circa 1968. Harris was deeply inspired by the beauty of the Island and the colours used in the glass reflect the sun, sea and sand of the Mediterranean paradise. The influence of the Islands beauty is certainly reflected in this magnificent piece. The stunning turquoise blue and golden sand colour instantly takes one to the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean. SIZE: This exquisite piece stands approx 65mms tall and measures 150mms in diameter.

CONDITION: This fine piece is presented in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. Light surface scratches to the quality flat ground polished base help authenticate this is a genuinely vintage example.

This piece has been very well cared for and presents spectacularly. MARKS: This piece is beautifully signed to the base with an engraved Mdina mark.
