This wonderful bowl has beautiful gold and light pink iridescence with opalescent vertical internal "ribs". It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. Made by "Monot & Stumpf" at the Pantin Glassworks in Pantin, France at the same factory where Mont Joye glass was later made.
The patented process used to create the golden iridescence on the surface dates to 1878, however, this bowl was probably made closer to 1890. The color is a peachy opalescent with a bronzed finish.
As this art glass was always hand made, each piece will be a one-of-a-kind with it's own unique coloration. This beautiful art glass was designed to directly compete with Tiffany, Steuben and other prominent art glass companies of this period and is regularly mistaken as Tiffany "Pastel" glass.
The glass is definitely a high quality art glass.
