Art Deco CROWN CRYSTAL Carnival Glass PIPING SHRIKE Master Bowl, Amethyst

This listing presents a stunning Crown Crystal Carnival Glass master bowl, in pressed deep amethyst / purple glass. The bowl was created during the 1920s by the Australian Crown Crystal Glass Company, and celebrates one of Australia's iconic birds - the Shrike, which is the Australian magpie. The centre of the bowl features a wonderful Piping Shrike, with its wings spread majestically, surrounded by sprays of wattle within a glassy, smooth background. The circumference of the bowl is wide, and is adorned with ruffled and crimped edging, while the theme of embossed wattle and ferns decorates the underside of the bowl.

The bowl, one of the most stunning of Crown Crystal designs, is in excellent condition with no real signs of wear, and has been used solely for display in a glassed display cabinet. The bowl is in excellent condition. It was made during the 1920s-1930s, but has no chips, hairlines, or repair. It is a truly fabulous piece, now almost a century old, and increasing in rarity and value.
