Both pieces have an unusual diamond quilted air-trapped pattern in the glass giving the appearance of a flower extending out from the center. The coloration seems to glow like a sunset. The technique of applying a thin layer of contrasting glass as decoration on an item was originally created by Frederick Carder (of Steuben glass fame) when he worked at Stevens & Williams in England prior to coming to the U. The plate measures 8 in diameter. The bowl measures 2 3/4" high and 5 1/2" in diameter. Both pieces of this set are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs to the body. Each piece has a couple of very small breaks in the exterior threading as is generally the case with this type glass. These minor flaws do not detract from the beauty of this set. I wish our photos did better justice to this gorgeous set.
It seems our camera glare distorted the color in some of our photos.
