VINTAGERARE TIFFANY GLASS BOWL SIGNED 1401- L. FAVRILE SMALL BOWL, NUT DISH, FINGER BOWL OR SALT DISH!! STUNNING, BEAUTIFUL GOLDEN AURENE WITH BLUISH SHIMMERS!! VERY RARE BEAUTIFUL TIFFANY GLASS ITEM!! THIS PIECE IS IN VERY GOOD TO EXCELLENT ANTIQUE CONDITION WITH NO CRACKS, CHIPS, OR REPAIRS.This is stunning vintage example of a rare Tiffany Favril glass bowl, nut dish, finger bowl or salt dip dish. It is large for a salt dip so it might be a master salt or a small nut dish or finger bowl. The glass has a beautiful indented rim with ten indented panels in the mold. It really shines in colors of gold and blues that have a shimmering blue hue when turned in the light. The color gets more blue color the closer you get to the bottom. It is made by Tiffany with their "favrile" glass, it is the favrile glass that gives it this beautiful iridescent golden blue glowing look. The name"Favrile" glass was patented by Louis Comfort Tiffany in 1894 and during this same period Frederick Carder patented the name"Aurene" glass for the Steuben Company. These two types of glass are very similar and set the highest standard for iridescent glass at the turn of the 20th century. This piece is truly an outstanding work of art produced by Tiffany Co. Of New York and shows the excellence in workmanship Tiffany is known for. The piece is a genuine Tiffany piece and is ETCHED/signed in both printed and script letters on the bottom rim where it sits, "1401 "L.
Please Note the photos of the marks and number on the bottom of the piece. The mark is clear and can be easily seen on the bottom rim of the piece.
The vibrant gold and blue iridescent coloration and indented ten panel design of this bowl is spectacular!!! This bowl is approximately 3 inches across the top and 1 1/4 inches tall. The bowl is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. There is a little age or stacking wear to the Favril on the top rim and the ridges where the panels come together, but is hard to see unless you really look at it. This is normal and to be expected of pieces this old. The bottom has a natural, intentional cut out dull indented area with no Favrile shimmer in the center which gives the bottom of the dish a pretty blue shine when looked at the inside from the top down. It looks to me like on the inside bottom there is a number that may be a date, it looks like 11 8 27 but I couldn't get it to show up in the photos. I'm not sure what the number really means, if not the date of production, since the item number is clearly 1401. I have provided many photos so you can see the truly great condition of the piece. The photos may be slightly brighter then the original piece.
Please look at the photos, they are part of the description and describe it much better than I ever could. This is a beautiful Tiffany piece and would make an excellent addition to your collection. Please look at my other auctions to see more Tiffany and unusual items as well as much French Limoges and Haviland china and Baseball cards. As with all vintage and antique items there may be slight factory imperfections but nothing that detracts from the beauty or value of my items unless indicated in the description.
