Pictured below is a vintage modernist blown glass bowl designed by Ercole Barovier for Barovier & Toso, Murano, Italy, circa 1954. From the series Porpora pieces from this series are featured in Art of The Barovier, by Marina Barovier, p. 185, the bowl features a profusion of gold leaf fragments submerged into reddish-purple colored glass.
The piece is thickly blown and weighty, with a lightly undulating lip its a beautifully executed example. It would make a fine addition to any collection of mid-century Italian art glass, and would look great in any Danish modern, Eames or Panton inspired setting. Measurements: The bowl measures about 4 3/8 in diameter and stands just over 1 ½ tall. Condition: The piece is in excellent vintage condition, with no chips, cracks repairs, or other issues. There is some table wear on the polished pontil on the bottom.
Marks: It is not signed or labeled. Please see my other auctions for more mid-Century modern design, vintage decorative pieces and jewelry. Thanks very much for your interest.
