Beautiful antique Legras & Cie glass rose bowl vase. I believe they first unveiled this style for the Exposition Universelle in Paris 1889 and produced them in various shapes and sizes. It is an organic, curvy shape.
The glass is thick and streaked to resemble marble or agate and has gold aventurine inclusions that catch the light. It is further hand decorated with a gold floral and bird design.
It has a ground out, polished pontil and is unsigned which is invariably the case with this range. Excellent condition, some water marking to the interior, light surface scratches commensurate with age. I think the rim would have been gilded, this has worn away with time. Please see the photos for more detail. It measures approx 11 cm tall, 17 cm at widest diameter. Please feel free to ask any questions and take a look at my other fabulous items.
