19thc Victorian Art Glass CARD RECEIVER Dish Cased w/Enamel DOG & FENCE. Offered for sale is one of the most unusual examples of Victorian art glass I've seen. I believe it is a card receiver or possibly a small bride's bowl. My thought is that it was made in England in the last quarter of the nineteenth century--any ideas appreciated.
The glass is fireglow cased in a rosy red color. The decoration is what makes this piece really special--a white dog chasing little gold birds across the grass by a fence. The exterior of the dish is decorated with trees. It measures 2 1/4" high, 7" long and 5 1/2 across at the widest point. The base is 2 1/2 across.
The card receiver is in very good estate condition with no damage, wear or repairs found. Any imperfections you may see are reflections of the camera lights. A charming example that should be a special addition to your collection.
